Little more than an hour away lies the friendly Berber city of Taroudant. Standing in the fertile plains of the Souss valley, overlooked by the Atlas Mountains, this is the ochre-walled 16th Century Capital of the Saadien Empire. A half-day that gives a glimpse of rural Morocco as well as a tour of an ancient city with magnificent fortified ramparts and a traditional souk. Wander the local markets and admire the work of the local craftsmen who produce goods with leather, copper, and silver — why not try your bargaining skills and treat yourself to a memorable souvenir?
