Excursion Tafraout & Tiznit

Tafraout, a unique excursion … quite different from the others…! A small town in the Anti Atlas, with a traditional and ancestral architectural style; remains an ideal place to visit in the south of Morocco. This small town has a magnificent and remarkable geographical position in the heart of the Anti-Atlas mountain range, giving it the ideal proximity to other villages in the region.

Departure at 8:00 am to Tafraout in the heart of the Anti-Atlas. A small town surrounded by pink granite mountains, give Tafraout its natural beauty. We start by crossing the plain of Souss and discover on the road the old kasbahs, the beautiful oases, the goats at the top of the argan tree, the fields of almond trees, “which bloom from January”, the famous valley of Amalen with its natural engraving “Lion’s head”, its traditional houses and its blue spring and its 33 villages.

Once we arrive in Tafraout, the air becomes pure, we find ourselves at an altitude of 1000 m. After lunch, we visit the weekly souk, which is held every Wednesday. We discover the activities of the villagers during the visit to a vast market of slippers and silver jewelry. Afterward, go towards the beautiful village of Aguerd Oudad to discover its rocks called “Napoleon’s Hat”, and its beautiful houses built in an architectural style typical of this Berber region. Then, we go to see an ideal place, rocks painted by the famous Belgian artist Mr. Jean verame in 1984. During this visit, here and there, you will appreciate the rocks that look like animals and others like human heads. On the way back, we will go through the Tiznit path.

Drive through several Berber villages as you reach the walled city of Tiznit, Go for a walk in the old Medina (Old city) exploring the ramparts surrounding the medina and its souks known for their Berber silver jewelry. We can enjoy a Cup of tea there before hitting the road toward Agadir.
